WWDC 2016 is set to kick off on June 13, and the star of the show is likely to be the unveiling of iOS 10. In addition to releasing a new non-jailbroken edition of Sileo, the Sileo Team released two minor updates to the package manager 0.8b1 and 0.8b2. The funny thing is, there’s a fair chance many of the tweaks and changes Apple will make to its mobile OS have already been made by the active iOS jailbreak community. The non-jailbroken version of Sileo can be installed alongside the jailbroken version on a pwned handset (although redundant) Sileo only works on iOS 11 and iOS 12. These intrepid tinkerers have made a habit of showing how good iOS could be if Apple would only take the shackles off. WATCH: iPhone 6S – Is it the best phone around? Here are nine of the iOS jailbreak hacks we’d like to see made official in iOS 10.

Most people agree that iOS 9’s introduction of 3D Touch was a good thing. Emus4u is another Cydia alternative that allows you to install off-market apps on your iOS device without jailbreaking it first. Equally, most people agree that Apple didn’t do nearly enough with the concept. QuickCenter is an iOS jailbreak hack that, among other things, adds 3D Touch shortcuts to the Control Centre menu. Given what an unruly mess the Settings menu continues to be in iOS (and every other mobile OS, in fairness), this is the kind of solution we’d really like to see in iOS 10.ģDNotifications – More 3D Touch enhancements Press the Wi-Fi toggle a little harder, for example, and you’ll be given a list of Wi-Fi networks to connect to. While we’re on this particularly hot subject, here’s another way in which 3D Touch can be better exploited in iOS 10. The 3DNotifications hack adds some pressure-sensitive shortcut magic to the Notification Centre.

And the other stuff, including Messages app conversation list typing indicators, and status.

The code that coordinates the providers’ notification requests, and handles running apps in the background where needed. With this jailbreak hack installed, you can press on notifications for previews and response options. The TypeStatus Plus Providers framework, which enables providers to relay notifications to TypeStatus Plus in a modular way. Pressing harder still will take you direction to that notification within its relevant app. Review: iPhone 6S TypeStatus – Staying on top of iMessages It’s smart, useful, and perfectly in keeping with the 3D Touch design language. The Newsstand is a bit trickier, but luckily you can hide that too, giving you a cleaner, more organized home screen. As a side note, the free version of TypeStatus will be receiving some updates as well. In fact, you can hide them with a simple little trick, never to be seen again. But don’t fret, because from the looks of things, the project seems to be shaping up for a public release in the very near future.

If you’re a regular iOS user who has used a range of rival messaging services, you’ll know that iMessage is a wonderful thing. TypeStatus Plus is currently in a closed beta period, and unfortunately, the team isn’t taking on any additional beta testers. Clean, fast, and generally a pleasure to use.
